Escorted Tour
Arnhem with James Holland and Al Murray

For those of you who have listened regularly to the podcast, you'll know that Operation MARKET GARDEN is a personal favourite battle of the Second World War for Al Murray and James Holland. You'll also know that James has long maintained that walking the ground is key to understanding how a battle played out. You may also be aware there is some small controversy over whether General Jim Gavin of the US 82nd Airborne Division might have ordered a more urgent assault of the Nijmegen Bridge. And you'll also be aware that 'Zeno' fought in Arnhem, that John Frost commanded the men who took the bridge, that Brigadier Roy Urquhart escaped down a backstreet alley, that there were never Leopard tanks, and that there are whole host of controversies, incredible moments of human drama, and that the entire operation was, according to Field Marshal Montgomery, 90 per cent successful…
In this very special four-day trip, James and Al will be guiding you around the key sites of the battle, discussing and debating in increasingly minute detail the whys and wherefores. You'll see the Groesbeek Heights, the famous bridges, you'll tour much of the battlefield around Arnhem and also see both where Urquhart holed up and the famous Hotel Hartenstein at Oosterbeek. There will be fabulous food and drink and even a chance to visit the Blue Hand pub in Nijmegen, where you, too, can record your very own Beer 52 advert. By the end, you will know a whole load more about this iconic wartime battle - and have had a huge amount of fun in the process.
WNTL? Absolutely nothing.
This trip is now sold out, but you can still join James Holland on an exciting battlefields tour next year - exploring the D-Day landing beaches in Normandy. Find out more and book your place here.
