Whizz through the snowy scenery of Switzerland and France on the Mont Blanc Express and enjoy turquoise lakes and postcard-perfect villages

The Alpine views of Switzerland and France are simply spectacular, and you'll have the perfect opportunity to soak them in on this six-day trip. You'll ride the Mont Blanc Express, where you'll see lovely landscapes as you travel from Gervais-les-Bains to Chamonix on one of the world's most famous mountain railways.

There'll be plenty of time to explore the many quaint French towns in the area and wander along the shores of Lake Annecy, enjoying the serenity of its waters. You'll spend a day in Aix-les-Bains, one of Europe's most fashionable destinations where you can relax on golden sandy beaches and enjoy a spot of shopping.

You will stay at the welcoming Sowell Hotels Mont Blanc et Spa in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, in a stunning location facing the Mont Blanc massif. You're not far from the centre of town, so you have easy access to its shops and amenities. Relax in the Eliospa Spa or dip your toes in heated outdoor pool; there's also a sauna, hammam or jacuzzi to enjoy.

    You'll travel by Eurostar from London to Paris today, and then continue by rail to Annecy where you will be transferred by coach to your hotel in Saint Gervais les Bains.

    Enjoy a leisurely day relaxing at the hotel or exploring the resort. Your hotel is situated in the typical alpine village of Saint Gervais les Bains, ideally located at the foot of Mont Blanc and just a ten-minute walk from the heart of the pretty village where you'll find shops, bars and restaurants.

    Included is a three-course lunch at the hotel today plus an evening meal tonight.

    The Mont Blanc Express & The Mer de Glace

    Today you'll board the Mont Blanc Express for a scenic railway journey to Chamonix. St-Gervais-les-Bains sits 1,035 metres above sea level in the shadow of Mont Blanc and is surrounded by glaciers, snowcapped peaks and lush green meadows.

    You'll have plenty of time to admire the views before jumping on board the Mont Blanc Express for an unforgettable train ride. You'll travel along the Montenvers rack railway, which climbs to 1913 meters through forests, tunnels and over viaducts before opening up to a stunning panorama with the Mer de Glace below. Make sure you bring your camera to capture a day of spectacular views!

    Today you'll spend a full day in delightful Annecy. The town's crystal clear canals, narrow, traffic-free streets, elegant bridges and colourful houses bedecked with flowers make it a wonderful place to explore. Make sure you visit the Palais de I'Isle and the 13th-century Château d'Annecy, and the popular picnic spot of Champs de Mars where you can cross Lovers' Bridge. You might also want to take a walk along the lake edge to relax in the public garden and on the lake's beach. The lake itself is full of life, and you can take a boat trip and glide through some of the most crystal clear waters in Europe!

    Today you'll visit the thermal spa town of Aix-les-Bains, on the edge of France's largest freshwater lake, Lake Bourget. Aix-les-Bains is one of Europe's most fashionable destinations offering some fantastic sandy beaches, relaxed shopping, and a variety of excellent restaurants where you can tuck into some local cuisine. Make sure you visit well known sights such as the Roman ruin, Temple of Diana and the belle epoque Château de la Roche du Roi.
